Travelling light: an active weekend at the chalet
Nanc', content creator & contemplative athlete
There's nothing like spending a weekend in nature to oxygenate your lungs and your mind. The magnificent Charlevoix region caught our attention*. From the St. Lawrence River to the valleys and mountains, this region has always struck a chord with me.
Our only goal: to play outside! It is easy when your chalet is on top of Le Massif, one of the most beautiful ski mountains in Quebec.
In order to feel free and light, a minimum of preparation and equipment is required.
First, determine the objective of your getaway:
extreme adrenaline-inducing sports in the mountains or long walks, cocooning and relaxation.
In my case, it's often all of the above! This is why it is important to choose the right equipment.
Here are a few tips to help you plan your next getaway.
Make a list
Out with the unnecessary stuff, you don't need to take everything with you.
For more experienced travellers, I challenge you to cut 15-20% off your list!
Choose the perfect bag that meets your needs
Are you more the weekend bag, backpack or suitcase type?
We recommend a hybrid Helly Hansen duffel bag. The concealed shoulder strap option and unique compartments make it a multi-purpose item with an ergonomic design. Personally, I find it the ideal option for additional sports equipment (e.g. ski helmet).
Its "little cousin", the toiletry bag, is also convenient! Leave out "for comfort" products and keep only the essentials.
Choose multi-purpose clothing
Choose clothing items that you will be able to wear in different settings. For example, a coat that can be used for skiing, snowshoeing, but also for an outdoor campfire.
The Multi-layer System is essential for getaways in the cold weather.
