Women’s Winter Boots

How to choose your winter boots?
Winter is a wonderful season that also presents weather challenges. This time of year offers a variety of fun outdoor activities and sports for which you need to be well equipped. At Sports Experts, we know Canadian winters all too well, and offer a selection of winter boots for women that will meet your needs, for your outdoor activities, your urban lifestyle or to withstand difficult winter conditions. To choose your winter boots carefully, you must first think about their potential use. In general, you should opt for boots that suit your level of weather exposure.

For high exposure to the elements
Do you walk a lot when traveling? Select boots that offer waterproof and slip-resistant features. We advise you to pay attention to the outsole if you are looking for increased traction on slippery surfaces. Some models offer anti-slip technologies to help you walk on ice. After an ice storm or on very slippery surfaces, we recommend adding ice cleats This ice and snow traction system can also be used on more difficult terrain and steep climbs.

For minimal outside commute
If your level of outdoor use is limited, you can opt for boots with a trendier style, from our selection of fashion boots.

For increased warmth
Are you sensitive to cold? Choose boots with greater insulation to keep your feet warm. For added warmth, opt for boots with a higher number of grams of insulation (normally, winter boot insulation is between 200 and 400 grams). Synthetic insulation is an excellent option because it works well even when wet.

For outdoor enthusiasts
If what you are looking for is to do outdoor activities, consider getting boots that offer good breathability to keep your feet dry. Just like in the case of slippery surfaces, we advise you to check the outsole, so that it can provide increased traction on the trails. In this case, it is important to consider the technology and/or the presence of crampons on it. The addition of a traction system can, again, serve as an essential accessory depending on the type of hiking you want to do. On some trails with heavy snow, you could also opt for snowshoes.

Finally, if you are looking for a pair that is a little more versatile with less insulation, it is always recommended to combine your boots with a pair of socks with light, medium or high cushioning depending on your needs. Opt for warm, breathable materials like merino wool, for example. Happy winter!
